Statement
My work is housed and governed within my ‘Encyclopaedia’, a vast collection of sculptures, objects, drawings, writings, installations and performances. These each individual projects are components of a more complex idea, based on ‘Encyclopaedia’. Simply you could say this life project serves to order, store and document my practice but an underlying idea of order is ever present.
The project started as diary entries of an ‘everyday life’, punctuating an ever-progressing stream of making that is related not just by authorship but also by chronology in a numeric sequence. Over the ten years of developing my ‘Encyclopaedia’, the ‘system’ has become key to the core idea. In my opinion the system is not merely complex mathematical, physical or theoretical meanings but also something more simple and closer to our daily life. Since it’s conception the project has become the framework, platform and house for my creativity and physical document to my intellectual pursuits.
The idea behind each work is based around a fantasy narrative, taking reference from memory, nature, humanity, sounds and words. These will be transformed into visual outcomes, influenced and affected by any of the possibilities afforded by the materials and processes. The consideration and production of the works are similar to scientific experimental for me. I believe that my process to be one of constant, vital and unrestricted exploration.
